Herrenchor

Herrenchor is an all male chorale group based at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish inside the campus of the University of the Philippines Los Banos,Laguna.The choir specializes both on liturgical and non-secular chamber music. The group consists of young, well-talented men from different fields of specialty. Most of the members are students while some are professionals. Undoubtedly, despite their busy schedules, the group still finds time to get together and provide choir services for the church and entertainment for all.

St. Therese of the Child Jesus - Our Patron Saint

Marie Françoise Martin, the future saint, was born on January 2,1873, at Alençon, France. At the age of five, her mother died, and on that occasion she consecrated herself to the Blessed Virgin Mary by taking Her as her own mother. After two of her sisters became Carmelite nuns, moved by divine inspiration, she resolved to do likewise.
As a Carmelite nun, she wore the Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel daily and devoutly. At her profession of religious vows, she took the name St. Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face.

St. Therese contracted tuberculosis and heroically bore her sufferings. At the command of her superiors, she wrote an autobiography entitled "The Story of a Soul." In it the saint describes the
way of spiritual childhood by which means Jesus led her to perfection. By means of this book her spirituality of the Little Way spread to the
entire Church and was espoused by millions of souls. Having entered into the Dark Night of the soul, Our Lord called her from this life of exile
to the eternal glory of heaven on Septebmer 30, 1897.


After her death, she appeared several times, rescuing soldiers from the battle grounds of World War I, and
prophesying to Bl. Maria Faustina Kowalska. She answered so many prayers and worked so many miracles that
she was canonized in 1925 by Pope Pius XI, declared co-patron of the missions in 1927, and co-patron of
France in 1944. Her feast day is celebrated on October 1.

In recent times, St. Therese, who was named patroness for the restoration of religious freedom in Russia, obtained
that favor on her feast day in 1990.

Herrenchor is the All Male Choir of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish inside the University of the Philippines Los Banos campus. It services the church every Tuesday 5:30pm and 7:30am Sunday masses (1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th of the Month).

Something To Ponder Upon

God never promised us a life without
hardships. He did however say He would never leave us and He would help us to perservere through these hard times
that come upon everyone (Hebrews 13:5). As we go through life we find ourselves in places sometimes that seem very
dark. How is it that God will help us through these times?? I believe the answers to lifes problems are found in The Bible.
When we read the bible we find that there is no problem that we can experience that Jesus Himself did not go through. He
went through proverty, rejection, betrayal and temptation. Everything we face Jesus has faced as well, and He was
victorious. He did not let proverty hold Him back (Matthew 8:20). He did not hide Himself away from the world as a
reaction to the rejection He faced (Luke 17:25). He did not allow Himself to become bitter because of the betrayal He felt
(Luke 22:48). No, instead Jesus carried on. He remained strong and He accomplished the calling God The Father had
set before Him. When I am in a time of need I find that the first thing I can do is to seek Jesus and ask Him for guidance.
I do this through prayer. Then I try to seek out His answers by doing several things, reading the Bible, listening to
uplifting music, and seeking out fellowship with other Christians. That is were this site comes in. It is my prayer that God
will use this site as a tool to help His people find strenghth during hard times. And also that He may use it to help people
who are tired of taking on lifes hardships alone. A place to begin a relationship with Him. If you are tired of taking on
lifes hardships alone and are ready for God to help you carry the burden than please pray this prayer.

Dear Jesus I know I am a sinner. And I know Lord that I can not carry the burdens of life by my self any longer. I ask
you Lord to come into my life. To forgive me for my sins and to help me carry the burdens of life. I make a commitment to
you Lord to follow you for the rest of my life and to let you be Lord of my life. In Jesus Name--Amen
